Members of Parliament Condemn Targeting of Armenian Genocide Museum and Church by ISIS

Ottawa - Harold Albrecht, MP (Kitchener-Conestoga) with Hélène Laverdière, MP (Laurier-Ste-Marie), prelate Bishop Meghrig Parikian, former Prelate of Aleppo Archbishop Souren Kataroyan, and representatives of the Armenian National Committee of Canada (ANCC) held a press briefing today to condemn the targeted attack and destruction of the Armenian Genocide Church-Museum in Der Zor, Syria by ISIS, aided by Turkish forces.

Following al Qaeda affiliated armed groups that crossed into Syria from Turkey and attacked Kessab, ISIL attacked on the Armenian Genocide museum and church in Der Zor and desecrated the holy site. The ANCC is calling upon the Canadian government to use its influence with Turkey to stop allowing these incursions and stop targeting Armenian historic sites and monuments.
